Orego-Stim® and Salgard - The Perfect Match

Orego-Stim® and Salgard are two products that work in harmony to assist in maintaining a robust immune system and therefore protect against pathogens and subsequent illness, condition loss and sometimes death.

In other words, Orego-Stim® and Salgard help the animal help themselves.

To explain the synergistic relationship of these products it may be best to explain each product’s attributes and then how they complement each other. In a nutshell, Orego-Stim® works inside the animal, Salgard works on the feed and water before they enter the animal.

Salgard is part of Anpario’s Acid based Eubiotics (ABE) range. It is an acid blend product designed to reduce the microbial load of raw materials during feed processing but also to help protect finished feed from recontamination. This includes drinking water.

Water sources are easily contaminated with pathogens. When pathogenic micro-organisms are consumed, they enter the gut where they can multiply rapidly due to the ideal environment water’s neutral pH of 7 presents. This can cause poor growth, gastroenteritis, neurotoxicity, liver and kidney damage and can be fatal. Salgard reduces the pH (3.8-4.2), a level that inhibits the growth and contamination of water by pathogenic bacteria, such as E.Coli and Salmonella.

Orego-Stim® Liquid and Powder are made with oil derived from a specific cultivar of oregano plant. This oil contains over 70 phenols that in combination offer antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial benefits.

Oregano is a flavouring compound that increases voluntary feed intake and helps maintain a healthy appetite through critical stages of growth such as weaning. Oregano oil contains antioxidants that help neutralise free radicals. Free radicals can cause cell damage. Levels of these may increase in times of stress, such as transport, heat or change of surroundings.
